USC is a retail store that sells branded clothing across the United Kingdom. The first USC store opened in 1989 in Edinburgh and specialised in sports clothing. USC used to stand for United Sports Corporation (however this is no longer the case) and was founded by Angus Morrison and David Douglas.[1] The company has expanded to 36 locations since.[2]

USC is part of the West Coast Capital group owned by Sir Thomas Blane Hunter.[3]

It was announced on 29 December 2008 that the company had gone into administration.[4][5] 15 of the group's 58 shops across the UK are affected. The remaining will be bought up by Dundonald Holdings Ltd, another vehicle of Sir Tom Hunter in a pre-packaged administration agreement.[6]

It was widely reported that only 15 stores were to close its doors and that Sir Tom hunter was saving all but 300 members of staff's jobs, however, 29 stores in total shut, with over 500 members of staff losing their jobs including those at head office.
